Inspired by David Carson's unapologetic nature and ability to embrace imperfections, I’ve always been drawn to his work as a designer. His fearless approach to breaking the rules and continuing to experiment resonates deeply with me, especially as a designer seeking to find comfort in discomfort. So, when tasked with researching and creating a piece based on a well-known designer or studio, choosing David Carson felt like a natural decision.
For this project, I’ve developed a playful publication that captures Carson’s nontraditional, nonlinear journey through life and design. The piece is divided into three interconnected sections: Early Life, Transition, and After Discovery.
Transition delves into the turning point when Carson discovered his passion for design. This period marked his entry into the design world, where he began to create bold, influential work for a global audience.
After Discovery reflects on Carson’s evolution as an artist, showcasing how he merged his personal identity with his digital art practice. This section highlights his reflections and deeper understanding of his craft after achieving significant success.
